Route, Access and Assembly Planned Before the Truck Is Loaded
Houston is one of the largest new-build and amenity-refresh markets in the country, and most of the installation work here lands in buildings that are either still in construction or fully occupied. Those are two different problems: one is about sequencing against other trades, the other is about working around residents without closing the amenity for a week.
Access decides the schedule
Before anything is loaded, the route is surveyed end to end — the loading point, the lift and its capacity, corridor turns, and the door. The ADA sets a 32 in minimum clear opening measured with the door open 90 degrees, and a nominal 3 ft leaf does not deliver that once the stop and hardware are counted. In a mid-rise with a single service lift, that survey is the difference between a one-day install and a returned pallet.
Placed to the plan, tested before we leave
Floors are protected before anything comes in. Equipment goes exactly where the design plan puts it rather than wherever it fits on the day, because the plan is what reserved the ADA clearances — a 30 by 48 in clear floor space for at least one of each type of machine, on a 36 in accessible route. Everything is assembled and tested on site, anything faulty is called in before the crew leaves, and the packaging goes with them.
Power, and the trap in a finished building
Each commercial treadmill needs its own dedicated 120V, 20-amp branch circuit with a non-looped neutral and ground. Three treadmills is three circuits. Adding those to a finished Houston building is far more disruptive than routing them while the walls are open, which is why it is a design-stage question — see how a room gets drawn before it is ordered.

Can you install in an occupied building?
Yes, and it is most of the amenity-refresh work in this market. It is planned differently: deliveries staged to avoid peak resident hours, floors protected along the whole route rather than just in the room, and the space handed back usable at the end of each day where the schedule allows.
What stops an installation going ahead?
Usually access or power. A door that does not give a 32 in clear opening, a service lift that will not take the piece, or treadmill circuits that were never run. All three are found by the pre-delivery survey rather than on the day, which is why we survey.
Do you install equipment bought elsewhere?
Yes. Installation can be quoted as a standalone service on equipment Fit Supply did not supply, though we will ask about the model and its assembled weight first so the route survey is accurate.
