San Marcos Fitness Facility Projects, Start to Finish
San Marcos sits inside the Austin market Fit Supply serves most closely. We plan, supply and install commercial fitness spaces here — layout and equipment selection through flooring, delivery, installation and the service plan afterward.
San Marcos projects have centered on apartment and condominium communities, schools and campus recreation, student housing. We specify to the facility type rather than applying one package everywhere, because the demands genuinely differ between them.
Delivery and installation in San Marcos are ours, start to finish. Nothing is handed to a carrier who leaves pallets at the door — equipment is built, positioned, leveled and tested, and we clear the packaging before leaving site.
Our Austin coverage puts Kyle, New Braunfels and Buda within the same service radius as San Marcos. For an operator running student housing across more than one of those, that means consistent equipment and one parts channel instead of a separate arrangement per site.
A San Marcos project can start at any point — a full apartment and condominium communitie build from an empty room, a partial refresh of failing cardio, or just the flooring. We also arrange finance, extended warranties and a preventive maintenance plan so the room keeps working after handover.

Working in San Marcos
Most of our work in San Marcos is apartment and condominium communities, schools and campus recreation and student housing.
What we equip in San Marcos
The three categories below are the ones San Marcos works in most, ranked by the volume we have actually supplied there. Each is a different specification problem, which is why the equipment list comes after the room rather than before it.
Apartment and condominium amenity rooms
Electrical is the item that most often turns a finished amenity room into a second construction project, because the space was never wired for it. Commercial treadmills need a dedicated 120V, 20-amp branch circuit each, with a non-looped neutral and ground — three treadmills is three circuits, not one shared run. Doors are the companion trap: ADA sets a 32 in minimum clear opening measured with the door open 90 degrees, and a nominal 3 ft leaf does not deliver it once the stop and hardware are counted. Both are cheap to solve while the walls are open and disruptive afterwards, so we raise them during design. More on multifamily gym design and equipment.
School and campus recreation
A campus weight room takes harder use than almost anything else we equip, and it takes it from people who are being coached to lift heavy. That makes both the structure and the surface safety items rather than budget items. IBC Table 1607.1 designs fitness areas for a 100 psf live load, which matters most when a strength room goes into an existing building. ASTM F2772 then covers the floor as measured properties — force reduction, vertical deformation, ball bounce and surface friction — which is what a platform area actually needs written into the specification. More on campus recreation equipment and design.
Student housing fitness rooms
Student housing has the sharpest peak of any facility we equip: a narrow evening window when most of the building wants the same three pieces, with nobody on duty. That makes the planning question which pieces to duplicate, not how many categories to cover. ACSM allows 25 to 50 sq ft per station, so breadth is bought with floor that could have gone to depth — and an empty rowing machine beside a queue for the squat rack is what residents remember at renewal. In short
Most of our San Marcos work is in apartment and condominium communities, schools and campus recreation. Planning a fitness facility in San Marcos, TX? Fit Supply handles the design, the equipment, the flooring and the installation, across the Austin area and out to Kyle, New Braunfels and Buda. Flooring is specified by zone against ASTM F2772 rather than chosen by appearance, with a 36 in minimum clear route held through the floor.
Common questions about San Marcos projects
Can a fitness room go on an upper floor of an apartment building?
Often, but it is a structural question first. IBC Table 1607.1 designs fitness areas for a 100 psf live load and residential areas outside sleeping rooms for 40 psf, so converting residential space is a change of use. Your structural engineer confirms what the existing framing carries; we plan the layout around that answer, including where the heaviest racks and plate storage sit.
How do we make a campus fitness room accessible?
Clearances and selection are two separate jobs. ADA scoping requires at least one of each TYPE of exercise machine to have a 30 by 48 in clear floor space on an accessible route, or 36 by 48 in where enclosed on three sides. ASTM F3021 is the standard specification for universal design of fitness equipment, which covers the machines themselves.
How should a student housing gym be sized?
For its peak, which is narrow and heavy. ACSM allows 25 to 50 sq ft per station, so the real decision is which pieces to duplicate rather than how many categories to include. Duplicating what queues in the evening serves residents better than a broader range that sits unused.
Does a Texas fitness build need an accessibility review?
If the estimated construction cost is $50,000 or more, yes. Under Texas Government Code chapter 469, the project is registered with TDLR and reviewed by a Registered Accessibility Specialist, with registration due within 30 days of permit submission, and the same RAS performs the final inspection. It is worth confirming early, because it sits on the permit timeline rather than beside it.
Do you cover properties near San Marcos?
Yes. San Marcos sits inside our coverage in Austin, and the same crews work Kyle, New Braunfels and Buda. Where a portfolio spans several of those markets, it is one specification and one point of contact instead of renegotiating each site separately.
