Commercial Gym and Apartment Fitness Projects in Jacksonville, Start to Finish
Jacksonville is the market where Fit Supply has done the most work in Florida. Our documented project here is a standalone commercial gym floor — racks, plate-loaded strength and a StairMaster climber row — and the full case study walks through how a dues-paying gym floor gets specified differently from an amenity room.
Jacksonville work spans apartment and condominium communities, health clubs and gyms, and home and individual customers. A commercial gym answers to paying members who compare it against the club down the road; an amenity room answers to residents who did not choose it. The specification follows from which of those a room is.
Design and equipment specification for a Jacksonville project are handled directly by Fit Supply, the same as anywhere in the country. Delivery and installation are coordinated through our nationwide network of installation partners rather than a crew travelling from Texas or Arizona — we manage the specification and the order, and a local partner installs to that same plan.
Jacksonville sits in Northeast Florida alongside Orange Park, Jacksonville Beach and St. Augustine — a metro we can quote across on one specification and one point of contact, the same way we do in any multi-property market.
The scope available in Jacksonville covers equipment consultation, layout and design, procurement, flooring and mirrors, delivery and installation, finance options and extended warranties. On-site service and preventive maintenance are performed directly by Fit Supply in Texas and Arizona only; elsewhere, including Florida, they are coordinated through our nationwide service-partner network.

Working in Jacksonville
Most of our work in Jacksonville is apartment and condominium communities, health clubs and gyms and home and individual customers.
What we equip in Jacksonville
The three categories below are the ones Jacksonville works in most, ranked by the volume we have actually supplied there. Each is a different specification problem, which is why the equipment list comes after the room rather than before it.
Apartment and condominium amenity rooms
Noise complaints from the apartments around the gym are the fastest way for an amenity to become a management problem, and the floor is where that is won or lost. ASTM F2772 treats force reduction, vertical deformation, ball bounce and surface friction as measured properties of an indoor sports floor, which means a free-weight corner and a cardio row can legitimately be built up differently. Zoning the floor that way is normally cheaper than running the heaviest specification wall to wall, and it is the decision that keeps the residents above from calling. More on multifamily gym design and equipment.
Health clubs and training studios
Retention is decided by whether the least confident member in the building can use the floor, not by whether the strongest can. There is a standard for that decision: ASTM F3021, the specification for universal design of fitness equipment for inclusive use by people with functional limitations and impairments. Specifying part of the floor against it lets one room serve a returning member, a deconditioned beginner and an athlete — which is a cheaper answer than three rooms and a better one than losing the first two. More on health club equipment and design.
Home and private training rooms
The question that decides a home installation is not whether the machine fits the room — it is whether it fits the hallway, the stair turn and the landing on the way there. We survey that route rather than assume it. The commercial benchmarks are a useful yardstick: ADA sets a 32 in minimum clear door opening measured between the face of the door and the stop with the door open 90 degrees, and 36 in where the opening is deeper than 24 in, and most interior doors and turns at home are tighter. Some machines come apart for the trip and some do not; the ones that do not decide the route, and occasionally the piece. More on home gym design.
Service, Repairs and Preventive Maintenance in Jacksonville
Fit Supply coordinates equipment service, repairs, and preventive maintenance nationwide through our network of service and installation partners, rather than a Fit Supply crew.
Coverage in Jacksonville
Jacksonville is part of our nationwide service network, alongside Orange Park and Jacksonville Beach. A local service partner handles repairs, warranty work and preventive maintenance visits to the same standard Fit Supply sets for the work our own crews perform directly in Texas and Arizona.
Preventive maintenance plans
Preventive maintenance is offered in three tiers — Silver, Gold and Platinum — see the full PM tier structure. Every repair and PM visit is quoted and approved before work begins.

Nearby, we also design, supply and service fitness rooms in Port Charlotte, Apopka and Clearwater.
In short
Jacksonville fitness facility projects, handled end to end — layout and design, equipment, flooring, and delivery and installation managed end to end rather than a freight drop-off. Most of our Jacksonville work is in apartment and condominium communities, health clubs and gyms. We also cover Orange Park, Jacksonville Beach and St. Augustine across the Northeast Florida area. Door openings are checked against the ADA 32 in minimum clear width before delivery is scheduled.
Common questions about Jacksonville projects
Why does our amenity room feel cramped with only a few machines?
Almost always circulation rather than piece count. ADA requires a 60 in diameter turning space and a 36 in minimum clear route width, and in a small room those consume more of the floor than people expect. A layout drawn to scale shows it immediately, which is why we draw before quoting.
What door width does a studio or gym entrance need?
ADA sets a 32 in minimum clear opening, measured between the face of the door and the stop with the door open 90 degrees — so a nominal 3 ft leaf yields less than its name suggests. Openings deeper than 24 in need 36 in. Worth checking on a renovation before the equipment schedule is fixed, since it also governs what can be carried in.
How much equipment fits in a spare room?
Less than the floor area suggests. ACSM allows 25 to 50 sq ft per station on the fitness floor, so a 200 sq ft room is realistically four to eight stations once you keep space to walk and to load a bar. Drawing it to scale first is what avoids a rack that cannot be used from one side.
Do the accessibility rules for a Florida fitness room differ from the federal ones?
The ADA Standards are federal and apply in Florida the same as anywhere else, and Florida adopts an accessibility code of its own that follows them. At layout stage the requirement that actually shapes a room is the clear floor space: at least one of each TYPE of machine needs a 30 by 48 in clear space on an accessible route, and 36 by 48 in where that space is enclosed on three sides. Settling that on the drawing is far cheaper than discovering it after the equipment lands.
Do you cover properties near Jacksonville?
Yes. Jacksonville sits inside our coverage in Northeast Florida, and the same crews work Orange Park, Jacksonville Beach and St. Augustine. That matters most to owners with several properties in the area, who get a consistent specification across all of them rather than whatever each site was sold locally.
